On these particular stools the aprons under the seat are recessed forming a 'waist'. Such a design enhances the beauty of the piece, and gives lightness to an otherwise solid form. Beneath the seat, the stools have humpback stretchers which strengthen the joint between the top and the legs, without adding to the depth of the seat. The legs finish in a style known as 'horse hoof feet' which adds further strength and elegance to the piece.
