These stools have very strong structural members to give long service. The aprons under the seat are recessed forming a 'waist' with openings (see through feature). Such a design enhances the beauty of the piece, and gives lightness to an otherwise solid form. Beneath the seat, the stools have humpback stretchers which strengthen the joint between the legs and top, without adding to the depth of the seat. Uncommon to most stools, these have bottom stretchers which serve as foot rest and at the same time further enhance the structure sturdiness. The legs finish in a style known as 'horse hoof feet' which adds further strength to the piece.
